Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss

Today I am talking about lip gloss. Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss to be exact. This gloss has been a favorite of mine for the past few years. If I am being honest, it has basically been the only lip gloss I have used since I keep returning to the formula.

I recently purchased quite a few Ultra Satin Lips from Colour Pop after looking into product reviews and swatches but let’s be real- I am not a lipstick person. I prefer stains or glosses. So it’s not a surprise I did not enjoy the tacky feeling as the formula doesn’t completely dry, or the look on me personally.

My Colour Pop shade selections probably didn’t help (neutrals and pinks with brown undertones) but nonetheless they are good quality for what they are, they’re just not for me. This is when you wish your common sense had kicked in before you made the grand purchase. Note what not to do.

After I received my satin lips, tried them on, and decided I only liked a few colours which I wouldn’t wear on a daily basis- I went to my local Shoppers Drug Mart and picked up my trusty Essence glosses for $2.99 each. Steal.

Top to Bottom: 07 Big Night Out, 08 Glamour to Go, 19 Nude Candy

So here I am shining a well-deserved spotlight on Essence XXXL Shine Lip Glosses which have been much loved by me for a long time now. Lets dive further into what makes Essence XXXL Shine Lip Glosses so great.

  1. Cruelty free
  2. Comfortable
  3. Pigmentation
  4. Shine
  5. Price

I enjoy this formula so much that I keep repurchasing. The formula is not sticky/tacky at all and feels moisturizing on my lips, which is what I really appreciate. As well, the brand doesn’t test their products on animals, which is a policy I strongly agree with. I also enjoy the colours which have great pigmentation- my favorites being Big Night Out and Glamour to Go.

I wear Big Night Out on a daily basis but if I am going for a more plain/nude lip I choose Glamour to Go as it has a soft caramel look to it. A new one to my summer collection is Nude Candy- just make sure to exfoliate your lips before applying this one.

You will have to re-apply the gloss throughout the day as it does transfer and the stay power isn’t extreme. However, I do not mind as I enjoy the formula like no other, as well the colours.

So there you have my favorite lip gloss. If you have been looking for a nice summer gloss, give Essence’s XXXL Shine Lip Glosses a go. They’re inexpensive, cruelty free, and have a wide range of colours.

Typically Essence’s selection at Shopper’s Drug Mart can be limited or picked through, so to see their full collection click here. You also have the option to order online.

Shine on.

Confessions of a Shopaholic Series

If you are looking for your Summer 2017 read, look no further. Today I give you a glimpse into my bookshelf and one of my favorite book series since Harry Potter- Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Confessions of a Shopaholic is written by writer Sophie Kinsella. It is a series of eight novels (so far, fingers crossed) following the life of Rebecca Bloomwood.

Confessions of a Shopaholic holds a special place on my book shelf, not just because it is a series of eight but because it is well loved.

Now, you may or may not have seen the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. The movie is essentially a hybrid of the first three novels, where some events are left out and others distorted.

I will admit, I watched the movie before reading the series and was an instant fan. However, after reading the series a few years later I can’t help but feel disappointed. There’s so much potential to make more than just the one movie and why feel the need to combine the three novels when they’re already wonderful as is. Plus there are eight books. Am I the only one realizing this? The movies could be never ending.

BUT I am not here to discuss the movie. I am here to tell you why you should indulge in all that is Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Like I mentioned earlier, there are eight novels in the series:

  • Confessions of a Shopaholic (2001)
  • Shopaholic Takes Manhattan (2002)
  • Shopaholic Ties the Knot (2002)
  • Shopaholic and Sister (2004)
  • Shopaholic and Baby (2007)
  • Mini Shopaholic (2010)
  • Shopaholic to the Stars (2015)
  • Shopaholic to the Rescue (2016)

I have read all the novels except “Shopaholic to the Rescue” and am currently trying to get my hands on a copy.

If you are reading said post thinking this is just another superficial series, you my friend are wrong. You do not need to be a shopaholic to adore this series- take it from a non-shopaholic herself. You will fall in love with it’s wit, charm, and ability to make you laugh and anticipate what happens next.

Also, there are so many books within the Shopaholic series and who likes it when a series ends. Knock on wood- I hope this series never ends but there are eight novels so far so it will take you a bit longer to get through.

You will laugh while reading about Becky’s newest adventure and most importantly you will enjoy yourself. After reading a few pages, a chapter, or 100 pages, you will close your book feeling a tad lighter with a smile on your face. That is the joy that is Confessions of a Shopaholic.

I know I haven’t gone into much detail on specifics of what the series is about so if you would like to know more click here.

If you have read Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic series let me know your thoughts. I know I must not be the only one who is committed to Becky Bloomwood’s never-ending adventures.
