If you are looking for your Summer 2017 read, look no further. Today I give you a glimpse into my bookshelf and one of my favorite book series since Harry Potter- Confessions of a Shopaholic.
Confessions of a Shopaholic is written by writer Sophie Kinsella. It is a series of eight novels (so far, fingers crossed) following the life of Rebecca Bloomwood.
Confessions of a Shopaholic holds a special place on my book shelf, not just because it is a series of eight but because it is well loved.
Now, you may or may not have seen the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. The movie is essentially a hybrid of the first three novels, where some events are left out and others distorted.
I will admit, I watched the movie before reading the series and was an instant fan. However, after reading the series a few years later I can’t help but feel disappointed. There’s so much potential to make more than just the one movie and why feel the need to combine the three novels when they’re already wonderful as is. Plus there are eight books. Am I the only one realizing this? The movies could be never ending.
BUT I am not here to discuss the movie. I am here to tell you why you should indulge in all that is Confessions of a Shopaholic.
Like I mentioned earlier, there are eight novels in the series:
- Confessions of a Shopaholic (2001)
- Shopaholic Takes Manhattan (2002)
- Shopaholic Ties the Knot (2002)
- Shopaholic and Sister (2004)
- Shopaholic and Baby (2007)
- Mini Shopaholic (2010)
- Shopaholic to the Stars (2015)
- Shopaholic to the Rescue (2016)
I have read all the novels except “Shopaholic to the Rescue” and am currently trying to get my hands on a copy.
If you are reading said post thinking this is just another superficial series, you my friend are wrong. You do not need to be a shopaholic to adore this series- take it from a non-shopaholic herself. You will fall in love with it’s wit, charm, and ability to make you laugh and anticipate what happens next.
Also, there are so many books within the Shopaholic series and who likes it when a series ends. Knock on wood- I hope this series never ends but there are eight novels so far so it will take you a bit longer to get through.
You will laugh while reading about Becky’s newest adventure and most importantly you will enjoy yourself. After reading a few pages, a chapter, or 100 pages, you will close your book feeling a tad lighter with a smile on your face. That is the joy that is Confessions of a Shopaholic.
I know I haven’t gone into much detail on specifics of what the series is about so if you would like to know more click here.
If you have read Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic series let me know your thoughts. I know I must not be the only one who is committed to Becky Bloomwood’s never-ending adventures.
